How the check works
When the document is signed, we calculate a checksum (SHA-256) of the final PDF file and store it. When you select the file here, your browser calculates the same checksum. If both match, the file has not been changed since it was signed. Even a single change produces a completely different checksum.
The online signature on baubewilligt.ch is a simple electronic signature with an audit trail. It evidences your mandate to us; contract law prescribes no particular form for this (Art. 32 et seq. and 394 et seq. CO). Towards building authorities it does not replace a handwritten signature, as only the qualified electronic signature is equivalent to it (Art. 14 para. 2bis CO). That is why every document is also available as a fully pre-filled PDF for signing by hand.
